Guru rapper died yesterday in the hospital on the 19th of April 2010 while fighting cancer. He also had heart complications. The famous rapper Keith Elam A.K.A Guru was forty three old. Elam belonged to a rap band of New York that was named as the Gang Starr.
Guru was being treated at a hospital in New York. During his stay at the hospital he wrote a letter addressing his fans. In his letter he wrote that he had a long battle with cancer and had submitted to the disease after exhausting all the available options. Further more he told his fans about his charitable organization known as Each One which was working to find a cure for the ‘terrible disease’ of cancer that claimed his life.
Back in March 2010 Guru had a heart attack and underwent a heart surgery. The surgery was later reported to be successful and the rapper was said to be recovering. Since that time many rumors that Guru has died got viral over the internet which was later cleared by DJ Premier the second man of the duo Gang Starr.
Gang Starr is a renowned rap group which was originated in 1985 in the city of Boston. In 1989 the group members of Gang Star separated and Guru was the only man left standing alone for the name of the band. Later he was joined by DJ Premier. After that the duo was on the road to success. The band also gave rise to the Jazz Rap genre through its eminent track Jazz Thing.
